Summer’s coming to an end – kids will be returning to school, and CBC will be re-opening its (literal and virtual) doors to a whole new bunch of talented writing folk in a few weeks. To mark the occasion, we’re running a couple of events on Twitter to get us all back in that writing zone. Enjoy!
Tuesday 4th September, 2.30 to 3.30pm (UK time) – #AskAnna
Have you got a burning question on writing or publishing you’d like to have answered by an expert? Why not ask agent, author and Curtis Brown Creative MD, Anna Davis? She’ll be logging on to Twitter and taking your questions. Just remember to use the #AskAnna hashtag, and tag @CBCreative!
Thursday 6th September, from 11am – #WriteCBC with David O’Connell and Sarah McIntyre
It’s hard to believe it was only in May when we ran our first ever #WriteCBC day, but our popular Twitter event is still going strong as we move into the Autumn.
This month we’re delighted to be bringing the Jampires author-illustrators Sarah McIntyre and David O’Connell to set the task and tip. This #WriteCBC will be particularly special, as, to celebrate the launch of our brand-new children’s picture book courses, there will be a chance for budding illustrators to join in as well.
But if you’re a keen writer whose drawing ability doesn’t stretch far beyond stick figures, don’t worry, you can still absolutely take part in the normal way by, well, you know, writing. And this isn’t just for children’s authors either, but for writers for all age-groups and genres to have a go.
One winner who has written their task will get a free place on one of our six-week online novel writing courses (you choose which course you’d like to take – and we’ll also be picking a winner who has drawn their task to get a free place on our Illustrating a Children’s Picture Book online course. We’ll also be giving out some course discounts for use on the six-week courses.
If you’ve not taken part before, you can find out more here. We’re looking forward to reading your entries!
If this whets your writerly appetite sufficiently, there’s more where that came from. Our three six-week online novel writing courses will be running again in September, and it only takes a few clicks to sign-up!
These courses are great for developing a new idea and getting stuck into a new novel; for pushing to the end of the first draft, and for editing and preparing to pitch to agents:
Starting to Write Your Novel – starting 12th September (sign up by 10th September)
Write to the End of Your Novel – starting 13th September (sign up by 10th September)
