The Laugharne Weekend – special offer for CBC newsletter subscribers

The Laugharne Weekend
by John Williams Events

Every so often, we’re able to offer special discounts to our newsletter subscribers on tickets for literary or writing events. Today our spotlight is on The Laugharne Weekend – possibly the most eccentric and characterful literary and music festival you’re ever likely to attend(!), taking place on April 5th-7th in Wales. We at CBC have been regular festival-goers over the last few years – as you’ll discover if you read Anna’s blog here – and although we’re not running a writing course there this year, rumour has it that Anna may in fact be involved in running a Welsh-themed bake-off … So now we’ll hand over to John Williams, one of the festival organisers, to tell you more about this year’s Laugharne Weekend line-up, and explain how you can get a 20% discount on tickets:

The Laugharne Weekend is no ordinary literary festival. Taking place in the Welsh township famous as the home of Dylan Thomas and the setting for Under Milk Wood, this is a weekend of writing, music and comedy. It’s an intimate affair in which audience and artists mingle together in the pubs and cafes of the village.

Running from Friday afternoon till late on Sunday night, the Laugharne Weekend takes place in different venues around the village – one minute you could be watching the exciting young poet Hollie McNish reading in the Chapel, or listening to a talk from the celebrated historian David Kynaston in the iconic Brown’s Hotel (where Dylan himself used to enjoy an afternoon tipple), but at the end of the night all roads lead to Keith Allen’s raucous cabaret show upstairs in the Fountain Inn.

This year’s attractions range from the performance poet legend Dr John Cooper Clarke to the novelist and Good Immigrant editor Nikesh Shukla – and from Tracey Thorn, talking about her suburban childhood, to John Lanchester reading from his dystopian new novel, The Wall. There’s even a CBC aluma on the bill: Kate Hamer, whose debut, The Girl In The Red Coat, was a major bestseller, will be previewing her new novel, Crushed.

For more information, and to buy tickets, visit the festival website here. Weekend tickets cost £100 but we have an exclusive 20% discount code for subscribers to our newsletter. If you are already a subscriber you will receive the discount code in next week’s newsletter. If you want to become a subscriber and receive the discount code all you have to do is enter your email in the subscription box at the foot of this web-page and then email cbccourses@curtisbrown.co.uk to receive your discount code. Our newsletter subscribers receive exclusive CBC news and content weekly!

Laugharne Weekend tickets cover admission to all events at the festival (though make sure to get there in plenty of time for the more popular ones!).
